Canada Express Entry–An Overview
Express Entry for Canada is an online system that manages PR applications electronically. There are three main programmes associated with the Express Entry: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Trade (FST). If a person is eligible for one of these programmes he can submit a PR application for Canada immigration.
To apply the first step is to create an online profile by submitting information about your age, experience, education, language, skills and some other factors. Each Express Entry profile is assigned a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Every two weeks or so, the IRCC conducts frequent draws to select potential immigrants. Through these draws Invitation to Apply (ITA) are issued to those who score high points. Once the applicant gets an ITA they have 60 days to claim Permanent Resident Visa (PRV).
What is CRS?
It is a point based system through which the eligibility of the applicants is evaluated. Under the CRS points are awarded for various factors, such as age, work experience, education, language ability, etc.
The high you score the more are your chances of qualifying for an ITA. CRS score for each draw varies there is no fixed pattern of qualifying marks. So far, the IRCC has conducted 7 Canada Express Entry draws and the very latest EE draw took place on April 11, 2018 and the CRS score was 444.
2018 target
Through the Canada’s economic immigration programmes, between 2018 and 2020, the IRCC aims to welcome around 177,500 new immigrants. Out of this 74,900 will be selected through the Federal High Skilled Programmes and 55,000 will be selected through the Provincial Nominee Programmes (PNPs). The majority of the applications under the said category will be processed through Express Entry Programme for Canada.
